Dogwood Arboriculture is a Knoxville based tree service company who values you and your trees. We understand the decision to remove a tree is not always as straight foward as it may seem. A recent customer had to remove a tree that had not been properly managed and was leaning heavily toward her house after a storm. Even then, she was extremely hesitant because she had so many memories involving the tree. It was especially wrenching, she said, because she was having to essentially pay for the death of the tree. She likened it to having to pay for a funeral, stating "paying for the removal of something you love is a hard thing to do."

If you're like most, our customer's statement resonates with you. And while we love holding on to the things which are dear to us, sometimes their livelihood is not sustainable and becomes a threat to the well-being of almost everything around it. This is one reason why maintenance--pruning, disease inspection, etc.--is so important to keeping a tree. While not a guarantee, it is true that proper pruning and maintenance of our customer's tree could have lessened its decline and ultimate failure.
The bottom line is this: tree removal is not as straight forward as it might seem. The tree that can potentially threaten to wipe out your brand new roof (or car, pool, foundation, power lines, etc.), is the same tree that makes the air healthy to breathe, provides shade or entertainment for the children playing in the yard, or lends a home more curb appeal. At the very least, we can all agree that trees offer great views. Thus removing a tree is often a very complex decision.
